Misako Hatami, 101, of Hilo died July 3 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Papaikou, she was a retired kitchen manager for the former Sumida Restaurant and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Tenrikyo Mishima Kyokai and Pomaikai Senior Citizens. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Sunday (July 23) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by sons, James (Pat Tsumako) Hatami and Wendell (Janice) Hatami of Hilo; daughters, Jean Hatami-Kogasaka and Marian (Ernest) Nagamine of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Watae Shindo of Japan and Emiko Fukuhara of Los Angeles; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
